How far can I go in 12 hours? Aimed specifically at the qualifying requirements for Spartathlon and similar races, also suitable for those who want to test themselves over 12 hours and see how fit they are at the beginning of the year.
Timing points recorded every 10km so you will have timing splits for every loop.
Bespoke medal, optional T-Shirt and Wooden Trophies for the furthest Distance Male and Female runners.
5km out and 5km back as fast as you can and no kit to weigh you down. except a headtorch in the dark hours.
Perfect for PB’s.

Finish time 7pm – Only complete loops will be counted – At 1 hour before the event end you will be allowed to run 1km loops (500m out and 500m back.

Rayne Vilage Hall, 3 Gore Rd, Rayne, Braintree CM77 6TX
Route
The route is an old disused railway track which is flat and firm underfoot, mostly gravel and earth. Only very slight gradients and a couple of bridges over roads being the only elevation change. Tree lined and well protected by the weather from wind and rain. There are a couple of inclines over bridges to break up the flatness.
Full 10k out and back loop
1km out and back loop – available only in the last hour of the event.
Checkpoints
There will only be one CP at the start/finish of each loop. The turnaround point will have a sign and be manned periodically to ensure you turn around correctly each time.
The Checkpoint will have hot/cold water and basic snacks such as coke, squash, biscuits, crisps, fruit, tea, coffee and other sweet or savoury items.
There will be space for you to sit and put out your own bags/items on a table so you can access them each lap during the race.
Facilities
Please dont arrive before 6am as it’s a residential area.
Facilities: Toilets in the village hall and a kitchen for hot water.
Parking is in the Village Hall car park
Timing/Tracking
The event will be timed electronically via our Webscorer timing app and all laps and results will go live online during the event.

Kit list
There is no compulsory kit list for this event however you will require a headtorch or other light for running in darkness. Please also dress appropriately for the weather conditions. It can be cold and wet in January.

Entries open – January 17th 2023
Entries Close – December 31st at midnight
No more entries will be possible after this date as we need the time to prepare for the event.
Entry price – £60 but reduced to £50 until the end of January 2023 for very early entrants.
Entry Limit – 75 runners, we cannot accept any above this number.

Volunteering
Without a small army of volunteers to support the runners we would not be able to organise these events or make them as successful.

Rules
Event Specific rules are listed below.
- The races starts at 7am – Even if you are late the clock starts at 7am
- 7pm is the cut-off time, even if you are out on a loop and get back after 7pm the loop won’t count.
- Only full loops count- In the last hour there will be a short 1km loop available.
- There will be a clearly marked turnaround point that will be policed at various times during the day.
- There will be storage for your stuff and a basic CP inside the hall.
- You can have a buddy runner/pacer at 6 hours onwards.
- All decisions by the race team are final.
- No dogs or crews on the course.
